Happy little animal of Australia - The cute Quokka

The ever smiling Quokka of South Western Australia

has a body sized of a domestic cat.

How do I look? Handsome, suave, chic and hic?

Or just plain cute?

Just like other marsupials in the macropod family,

(like the larger kangaroos and wallabies)

the Quokka has its young developed, grown, carried

and suckled in a pouch on the mother’s belly.

Meet the cutest and happiest little animal of Australia-The irresistible Quokka! This ten photos show that the Quokka, a small marsupial native to a small corner of South West Australia, truly has only ‘good sides’ when it comes to get its pictures taken. The Quokka poses no threat to humans, and clearly can be very friendly. Unfortunately their friendliness may have contributed to their drastic reduction in population after dingos and foxes entered Australia. Now listed as “vulnerable” the Quokka populations are recovering in some areas, thanks to conservation efforts. Hopefully that means more photos and videos of the adorable little guys will surface in the internet.

Quokkas are herbivorous in their nature of food seeking.

A proud little fellow who’s ignorant of any

threat like the dingos and foxes.

It’s absolutely adorable even when it’s sleeping.

Any pieces of bread or nuts to spare?

This adult Quokka stands up on its hind legs,

looking for attention or just food.

It’s so unafraid of humans.

It maintains its pleasant disposition while facing the camera.

Now will you put up a wider smile?

Yak, you guys look awful!

Yeah, a nice friendly speck goes a long way.

Somehow this guy uses a piece of towel to wrap around

his little friend, so as to prevent being scratched by its sharp claws.

So you know why the Dutch people in the 17th century thought we were

’wild cats’ or ‘Giant rats’ when they first set foot on Australia!
